Dr Tiffany KOSCH

Research Fellow, University of Melbourne

Tiffany Kosch is a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne (AUS) who is developing Targeted Genetic Intervention approaches to improve the conservation outcomes for endangered species. Since obtaining her PhD from East Carolina University (USA) in 2012, Tiffany has worked as a research fellow at Massey University (NZL), James Cook University (AUS), and Seoul National University (KOR). She uses tools from genomics, synthetic biology, quantitative genetics, and animal breeding to promote adaptation to changing threats. The focus of Tiffany’s research program is to improve the success of reintroduction efforts for Australian frogs threatened by the devastating fungal disease Chytridiomycosis such as the functionally extinct Southern Corroboree Frog. She is currently exploring various genetic intervention methods to promote self-sustaining populations of these species including CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and genomic selection.
