Dr Samantha HILL
Deputy Head of Science Programme, UNEP-WCMC
I am a conservation ecologist who has worked in academia, government, industry and conservation NGO's. My research focuses on the use of models and scenarios to analyse global trends in biodiversity. I am interested in understanding how humans have impacted biodiversity and ecosystem services in the past and how this knowledge can help to guide sustainable pathways into the future. In the Science Programme at UNEP-WCMC we work with a variety of different organisations and end users of our research, from providing guidance to policy makers at national to global scales, to working on sustainable solutions with businesses and agriculture at more local scales. I have recent publications in high level scientific journals such as Science and Nature as well as policy-relevant reports such as the IPBES Global Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, the Living Planet Report and the Protected Planet Report.
