Dr Samantha CHENG

Biodiversity Scientist, Center for Biodiversity and Conservation, American Museum of Natural History

Dr. Samantha Cheng is a scientist at the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC) at the American Museum of Natural History. She is an interdisciplinary conservation scientist whose research draws from the biological, social, and computer sciences, to understand connections between nature and human well-being in global conservation, and build tools and assessments for evidence-informed decisions. At the CBC, she leads activities as part of the U.S.-based center with the global Collaboration for Environmental Evidence. In this capacity, she works closely with conservation and development organizes to identify need for evidence, assess existing knowledge, and apply insights to decisions. Currently, she serves as the Research and Evidence lead for the Integrated Natural Resource Management activity with the US Agency for International Development. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles.
