Mrs Marie-Claire PAIZ
Gabon Country Director, The Nature Conservancy
Gabon Country Director for The Nature Conservancy since 2013. I manage a portfolio of freshwater conservation projects that include sustainable fisheries management and planning for hydropower development that is less impactful to nature and people. We are now focusing on innovative approaches to protect ecological significant rivers. TNC works in partnership with multiple stakeholders to deploy pragmatic solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
Prior to this role, I worked with TNC in Mexico and with a local NGO in Guatemala, managing teams and programs focused on forest and marine conservation, and tackling climate change through Natural Climate Solutions.
A Guatemalan native, dual Mexican citizen, I grew up in West Africa. I am a biologist and hold an MES degree from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. I am fluent in French, English and Spanish.
