Dr Inaoyom IMONG
Cross River Landscape Director, Wildlife Conservation Society
Inaoyom Imong has been involved in biodiversity conservation efforts in Nigeria for over 18 years, with a focus on Cross River gorilla conservation. He is currently the Director of WCS Nigeria’s Cross River Landscape Program. Imong has a PhD in Primatology from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Germany, and a MSc in Conservation Biology from the A. P. Leventis Ornithological Research Institute, University of Jos, Nigeria. He is a member of the IUCN/SSC Primate Specialist Group, a member of the Scientific Commission of the Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP), and a founding member of African Primatological Society (APS). Imong received the GRASP-Ian Redmond Conservation Award in 2013, and the Whitley Award in 2015. His interests include ecological monitoring, protected area management, and community-based conservation.
