Keen ornithologist, serving as scientific program coordinator of the Association "Les Amis des Oiseaux » (AAO/Bird Life Partner in Tunisia). He was the North-African regional representative on the AEWA Technical Committee up to 2015 when he served also as the Committee’s Vice-Chairman. As an international coastal and waterbirds expert, he was one of the authors of Bird of Tunisia, the Atlas of Libyan waterbirds, the international Action Plan for the North Africain Houbara Bustard, the guide on the identification of migratory north-African waterbirds, Proceedings of the 13th Medmaravis Pan-Mediterranean Symposium  and several other publications on birds and their conservation.
