Mr George GANN
International Policy Lead, Society for Ecological Restoration
From southern Florida in the USA, I received a BA in Environmental Conservation and International Affairs from the U of Colorado in 1984. A conservation and restoration practitioner, I have worked with an array of organizations in the public, private for profit and nonprofit sectors. I have completed hundreds of projects on the ground, published >100 articles, reports, websites, and a book, and speak to numerous public and technical audiences. I have worked intensively on rare plant conservation and ecological restoration in Florida and the Caribbean at many scales and in many contexts, and have extensive conservation and restoration policy experience with The Institute for Regional Conservation and the Society for Ecological Restoration. I am lead author of SER's International Principles and Standards for the Practice of Ecological Restoration (2019) and contributed to the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration principles.
