Dr Arnaud LYET

Senior Conservation Scientist, World Wildlife Fund

I am an expert in population modeling and biostatistics applied to wildlife monitoring and conservation. As a senior wildlife conservation scientist for WWF, I work to identify, test, promote, and share innovative scientific approaches that help WWF tackle key conservation challenges. My current research focuses on environmental DNA for biodiversity monitoring, advanced statistical modeling for population density estimate, machine learning and AI technologies for automatic species ID in camera traps, and the use of Agent Based Models for co-design of conservation solutions. Previously, I worked in France as a wildlife ecologist. I received my PhD in conservation biology from the University of Montpellier, where my research focused on a rare and highly endangered mountain snake: the Orsini viper.
