Ms Alice RUHWEZA
Africa Region Director, World Wide Fund for Nature
Alice Ruhweza is the Regional Director for Africa. Her role is to develop and lead WWF in Africa so that it is able to shape the sustainability agenda of Africa domestically and globally to deliver WWF’s global conservation priorities.
Alice also worked for Conservation International (CI) first as Executive Director of the Vital, and she spent 6 years before that with UNDP, where she was Team Leader of the UNDP’s Global Environment Finance Unit in Africa.
She earlier worked with NEMA Uganda, Forest Trends (USA), Sprint Corporation (USA), as a consultant for the World Bank, UNEP Economics and Trade Branch, the UNFCCC Secretariat, the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development, and the Institute for European Environmental Policy.
Alice is an Aspen New Voices Fellow, a Henry Arnhold Conservation Fellow and a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar.
