What works in protected areas? Data and information tools for mapping and understanding PA outcomes

Pourquoi assister à cette session?
This session will give you hands-on experience of the tools developed in the BIOPAMA (Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management) programme to use, share and analyse data on protected areas - what do they contain, what are the pressures and threats, what are the management responses and how are conservation and livelihood objectives being met?
HideDescription
The session will give an overview of the state-of-the-art information tools developed by the BIOPAMA programme, focused on gathering and sharing data and information on protected areas. You will be shown how the tools have been developed, and how they can be applied, with a series of hands-on exercises and case studies. We will cover mapping data (GIS, satellite remote sensing), survey data (communities, management, governance) and other sources, and show how to link data to conservation objectives and targets. You should have a strong interest in protected areas, but no specific technical experience is required. We will also be gathering your feedback as a participant, so if you are directly involved in PA management, we want to hear from you
