Dr Barry GOLD

Consultant, Rob and Melani Walton Foundation

He has over 30-years experience working to find solutions to challenging conservation issues in Africa, Latin America, the Pacific, and the U.S. For more than 15 years he held leadership positions at the Walton Family Foundation, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

Before that he worked at the U.S. Department of Interior helping lead the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program, and priori to that he was a senior environmental staffer for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science.  He has also held senior positions at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

In 2017, he received the National Champion of the Ocean Award from Monmouth University and in 2007, he was elected a AAAS Fellow for "enhancing scientific literacy and training the next generation of leaders at the science-policy interface."
