Science-based action and enhancing capacities for ecosystem restoration: A Decade for collaboration

To support the implementation of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a FAO-led Best Practices Task Force (BPTF) and an IUCN-led Science Task Force (STF) were established. The BPTF is a coalition of 136 individuals from 55 leading global organizations in charge of shaping the knowledge component of the UN Decade, including capacity development efforts as well as capitalization, sharing and dissemination of good practices for restoration in all ecosystems. The STF will provide an authoritative scientific reference for the UN Decade. It will collate and convey concise information and concepts of terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystem restoration based on rigorous evidence. This session will be an opportunity to launch key knowledge products and science developed by both Task Forces in 2021, as well as to share their plans for 2022.
