Staff of The Nature Conservancy for 35 years: As the Ecologist (1986-99), conducted biological inventories & produced biological reports & management recommendations for the Conservancy, partner federal/state/local agencies, & private landowners/organizations. As Hawai‘i Natural Heritage Program Coordinator (1992-94), managed a staff of 15 & an annual budget of over $1 M US, conducted biological inventories across the archipelago. As Director of Science, guided the science behind the operations of the Conservancy in Hawai‘i. As Senior Scientist/Cultural Advisor, maintains science guidance, & adds cultural expertise to enhance the Conservancy mission. Experience includes: biological inventories & research, field ecology, invertebrates, ethology, ecological classification & modeling, climate change analysis, historic landscape change. Versed in Hawaiian culture, history, & language. Hawaiian Cultural Practitioner.
