Ms María Inés HERNANDEZ DE LA PENA

Inés Hernández is a political scientist from Mexico City interested in exploring ways to integrate biodiversity in cities with an environmental justice perspective. Currently, Inés is finishing her MPhil in Conservation Leadership at the Department of Geography of the University of Cambridge. As part of her programme, she is collaborating with IUCN’s Urban Alliance in researching the intersection of human rights, nature and urban planning, with the aim to provide a set of recommendations for IUCN Secretariat to meaningfully contribute to the urban environmental justice agenda. Before her Master’s, Inés worked for the promotion of more and better urban forests in Mexico and Latin America from Reforestamos, an IUCN Member NGO based in Mexico.
