Reverse the Red - Targeting the Underlying Drivers of Biodiversity Loss: a “Project Drawdown for Extinction”

Pourquoi assister à cette session?
Participating in this conversation will help identify and understand the appropriate questions, partners, resources, and opportunities to produce an effective assessment of what conservation solutions may be most effective at preventing the sixth mass extinction.
HideDescription
To effectively prevent the sixth mass extinction, we must prioritize our efforts to target the underlying drivers that lead to habitat degradation, biodiversity loss and ultimately, species extinction. Many significant efforts have successfully mapped high-risk areas, species at risk, and biodiversity hotspots in need of protection. Building upon these important resources, this session will explore a new methodology that focuses on the effectiveness of potential solutions to preventing the underlying drivers of extinction, rather than just its symptoms. Taking inspiration from “Project Drawdown”, we will explore this new “Drawdown for Extinction” effort, led by Conservation X Labs, that strives to assess the root causes that lead to extinction and to prioritize conservation interventions by extinction prevention, scalability, and cost-effectiveness health. Solutions and innovations are expected to emerge throughout the economy and society, massively broadening the scope of conservation
