The Laukahi Network and Hawaii’s Strategy for Plant Conservation

HideDescription
The Laukahi Network is implementing the Hawaiʻi Strategy for Plant Conservation (HSPC) to support the international success of the Global Strategy (GSPC), and biodiversity conservation worldwide. We will show attendees how the adoption of the HSPC brought new, regionally tailored perspectives to the GSPC. Here, we report on our triumphs and accomplishments as they transpired in our network, with examples in a local, Hawaiian context. Our partners, who specialize in specific Targets of the HSPC, will deliver resonating messages describing how the implementation of these Targets has benefited our islands, and how our efforts and achievements are enhanced through Laukahi’s active facilitation. We hope to serve as a model that can be adopted in other tropical island regions and create lasting partnerships with other entities throughout the world that will benefit both our people and flora.
