High time to act for our Mediterranean - Session 1: Where are we now?

Pourquoi assister à cette session?
Several major publications have shown that the Mediterranean is on a collision course with nature. This session will provide an opportunity to find out where we stand and what the developments for our ecosystems and the impacts on societies could be.
HideDescription
Two seminal reports published in 2020 (The State of the Environment and Development (SoED) report of Plan Bleu, and the first Mediterranean Assessment Report (MAR 1) on climate and environmental change in the Mediterranean basin, of MedECC) - both supported by the UNEP/MAP-Barcelona Convention system - shed light on the impacts of the triple crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution on the Mediterranean. They provided a timely surge of evidence in support of the One-Health approach, whereby healthy ecosystems underpin human health. This session will provide an insight into the key findings of these studies, and a good understanding of the main environmental issues the Mediterranean is facing. It will serve as a basis for the discussions that will follow during the day, which will focus on the actions to be taken to help our Mediterranean recover its health.
