This dynamic, interactive session will provide an opportunity to learn about conducting impact assessments for both heritage conservation and sustainable development, based on the newly developed Impact Assessments Guidelines for World Heritage, within the framework of the World Heritage Leadership Programme in integrating nature and culture.

This session will bring together UNESCO, ICCROM, IUCN, and ICOMOS all working together in improving the impact assessment guidelines for protecting World Heritage to present the most updated guidelines to heritage practitioners working in diverse realities facing multiple pressures for change. The session will provide background on the necessity of having an integrated approach for cultural and natural heritage in impact assessment, whilst taking a step by step interactive session through the processes of conducting an impact assessment. Various case studies illustrating the importance of an integrated and participatory process will be presented.
