Initiatives and challenges for a better conservation of Mediterranean Small Islands

The small islands of the Mediterranean basin are territories with a high importance regarding biodiversity, as well as regarding their ecological, cultural, historical heritage and socio-economic values (tourism, fisheries…). Several threats in link with global change (habitat destruction, invasive species, climate change, over-exploitation of resources, pollutions) can affect their environments. Since many years, international or national organizations are, at their scale, acting in favour of the preservation and management of these unique and fragile territories. This event will be an opportunity to present the concrete actions done by some of them, and raise awareness about main issues and challenges for a better conservation of Mediterranean small islands.
