Senior Programme Manager, IUCN

Steve joined the International Union for the Conservation of Nature in 2013, and oversees IUCN’s work with the extractives sector, serving as the Rio Tinto, Shell, TotalEnergies and Newmont Mining relationship manager, and leads IUCN’s work related to the mitigation hierarchy – including the development of IUCN’s Policy on Biodiversity Offsets (www.iucn.org/offsets).  He is also currently coordinating an independent scientific and technical advisory panel (www.iucn.org/riodocepanel) to support the restoration efforts following the collapse of the Fundão tailings dam in Brazil in late 2015.
