Risa Smith is an ecologist and current  Leader of Protected Areas Climate Change Specialist Group, WCPA.  Over the past 3 years she has focused on Natural Climate Solutions and the relationship between biodiversity loss and climate change. Risa’s recent report Enhancing Canada’s Climate Change Ambitions with Natural Climate Solutions, demonstrated the importance of protecting carbon-dense/high biodiversity ecosystems.  Risa serves on the Canadian government’s and IUCN's Nature-Based Solutions Advisory Committees.
