Dr. Ocampo-Peñuela is an Assistant Professor of Conservation Ecology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She earned her PhD from Duke University and did a postdoc in ETH Zurich. Her research focuses on the conservation of birds in biodiversity hotspots around the world, with a strong emphasis on Colombia. She uses spatial tools to study the distributions, movement, and conservation priorities for birds in tropical forests and in agricultural landscapes.
