Michael is a Senior Scientist at Leibniz IGB, Professor of Biology at the Freie Universität Berlin, and a founding member of the Alliance for Freshwater Life. He leads a research group studying the ecology, evolution, and biodiversity of freshwater organisms, including insects, plankton, fish, fungi, and bacteria.
