Kathleen H. Fitzgerald is a protected area specialist with extensive experience in integrated large landscape conservation and development programs in Africa and North America. She is a partner at Conservation Capital, which focuses on building resilient conservation landscapes for wildlife and people, prior to which she was Vice President at the African Wildlife Foundation. Kathleen has helped advance nature based solutions throughout her career. She has created new protected areas (PA), improved management and financial sustainability of PAs, established Collaborative Management Partnerships (CMP) for PA management in six countries covering 14 million acres and led community and climate resiliency initiatives. Kathleen is developing the World Bank’s Global Wildlife Program toolkit for CMPs and is involved in biodiversity offsets. She is widely published and based in Laikipia, Kenya.
