Dr Jacques PANFILI

Dr Jacques Panfili is a Research Director from the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD, Institut de Recherche pour le Développement). He is an ichthyologist working in the Research Unit MARBEC (MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation and Conservation) and is based in the Montpellier University (France). His fields of research are fish biology and ecology focused on life history traits (age and growth using sclerochronology, reproduction, and migration using otolith microchemistry). He has experience in many tropical (West Africa, South-East Asia, South America) and Mediterranean aquatic environments, in marine, brackish and freshwater ecosystems. His recent works are dedicated to conservation of fish species and coastal habitats, including mangroves.
