UNEP Champion of Earth

Adv. Afroz Shah is a young Indian lawyer practising at Mumbai High Court. Afroz & his team have been tackling marine litter by cleaning Rivers, Beaches, Ocean & Mangroves & have removed 70+ Million Kgs of plastic & filth. He is running a mindset change program in the human-ocean & human-animal conflict zones of India to beat plastic pollution, adopt circular economy & implement UN SDG Goals. 120000 citizens & 80000 students are actively participating to adopt Circular Economy in their lives. He is a firm believer of Gandhian philosophy to protect the Mother Nature by love. The UN has labelled Afroz’s Clean-Up as “Biggest Beach Clean-up in World History”. He is recipient of the highest environmental award by The UN “CHAMPION OF THE EARTH”. Inspired by Afroz's effort to clean beaches in Mumbai, UNEP launched the Clean Seas campaign globally. The PM of India Mr. Narendra Modi described Afroz as an inspiration for the entire country.
