In this speaker pitch, we will introduce LandScale, an exciting new approach for assessing and communicating the sustainability performance of entire landscapes. Unlike traditional certification standards, LandScale does not prescribe practices. Instead, it is designed to provide reliable information about the outcome of efforts to protect ecosystems, promote human well-being, improve governance, and optimize productivity at landscape scale. This information can be used to design and adapt locally relevant policies and management interventions to meet landscape sustainability goals. It can also inform more sustainable sourcing and investment decisions, creating market incentives to demonstrate improvements in landscape sustainability performance.
