Alentar el derecho de la naturaleza

¿Por qué asistir a esta sesión?
Increasingly laws recognize rights of trees, rivers, mountains or other components of the natural environment. But who speaks for the trees? How can nature exercise its rights? Learn how cognitive technologies, such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and smart contracts, let Nature act autonomously in its own defense.
HideDescripción
The Rights of Nature movement is growing exponentially worldwide. Courts, legislatures, constitutions, customary laws of Indigenous communities, and decisions of non-governmental organizations consciously recognize the Rights of Nature. In 2012, the IUCN passed Resolution 100 calling for the IUCN to initiate a process that would include the Rights of Nature in IUCN as fundamental and key elements of decision making and within IUCN plans, programs and projects. The workshop will include case studies illustrating how civil society and governments are acting to protect Nature’s rights along with strategies, challenges and best practices. Discussion will further explore various pathways to advance Rights of Nature and its relationship with other rights-based movements including the right to a healthy environment. Presentations and discussion will help inform participants and the IUCN towards RoN implementation locally and globally.
