This event will be held as a round table gathering experts from various European NGOs. Five speakers will present their perspectives on the environmental and political issues raised by hydropower projects within 5 minutes each. These short presentations will be followed by a discussion session with the audience. Aims: To increase awareness about the environmental threats caused by hydro in highlands, To illustrate and discuss the different issues related to expanding hydropower plants, To share experiences across different mountain territories in Europe. This round table will focus on the case of small hydro although the matter of large-scale hydropower will be addressed as well. Likewise, the public is welcome to share their experience with examples from other territories than EU to enrich the discussion.
