Dr Sandeep Kumar TIWARI

Program Manager, IUCN SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group

A wildlife biologist and conservationist, Dr Sandeep Kr Tiwari has been working for wildlife research and conservation for over 25 years. He currently works as Program Manager of the IUCN SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group and Deputy Chief of Conservation, Wildlife Trust of India. He is also the Co-Chair of IUCN WCPA CCSG Asian Elephant Transport Working Group. Sandeep holds a Master’s Degree in Zoology and a PhD in elephant ecology and behaviour. His areas of expertise include wildlife corridors, human-elephant conflict mitigation, wildlife policy, linear infrastructure and habitat restoration. He is a member of IUCN SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group, IUCN WCPA Connectivity Conservation Network, IUCN WCPA Protected Landscapes Seascapes network, IUCN WCPA-SSC Biodiversity and Protected Areas network. He also holds a doctoral degree in alternate medicine.
