Vice Chair and Secretary General, Biodiversity Committee, Chinese Academy of Sciences

    A professor of Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chair of IUCN Asia Regional Members' Committee. He initiated Asia Biodiversity Conservation and Database Network (ABCDNet), Chinese Forest Biodiversity Monitoring Network (CForBio) and China Biodiversity Observation and Research Network (Sino BON). Cooperating with German and Swiss colleagues, he and his Chinese colleagues established a manipulation experimental platform of forest Biodiversity and Ecosystem Function (BEF-China). He took the lead on digitization of specimens in China, set up NSII (National Specimen Information Infrastructure), CVH (Chinese Virtual Herbarium) and Catalogue of Life-China and so on. Since the first CBD COP in 1994, he has been participating in most of the CBD COPs, SBSTTA meetings.He has published more than 400 academic papers, including more than 200 papers in top journals such as Science, Science Advances, PNAS, National Science Review.
