Convergence: The Case for Combating Conservation Crimes

¿Por qué asistir a esta sesión?
Combating conservation crimes at their convergence helps leverage efforts to disrupt criminal networks involved in wildlife trafficking, illegal logging, IUU fishing, and illicit mining, strengthening resource management while reducing drivers of instability; the session will convene experts on tech and policies for combating conservation crimes.
HideDescripción
The session will kick off with keynote remarks from Ambassador Marcia Bernicat, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs at the US Department of State. This will be followed by a series of expert panels focusing on areas of convergence among conservation crimes in key geographies, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the different sectors in addressing conservation crimes. Panelists will represent a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, and will discuss leveraged responses, links to organized crime, and innovative technologies and policies for addressing conservation crimes as a group. Each panelist will respond to discussion questions from the moderator, including those fielded from the Congress app and an online form to encourage audience participation.
