Ali Raza Rizvi is responsible for IUCN’s global Ecosystem based Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction Programme and is based in Washington DC. He has been involved in the development and conservation sectors for over two decades and has managed diverse programmes and projects worldwide. He has extensive experience in the areas of integrated rural development, poverty reduction, sustainable livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, and climate adaptation. He has rich experience of working with development and humanitarian agencies on livelihoods, disaster management, and climate change programming. In his current position, he provides strategic direction and operational guidance for the development and implementation of IUCN’s global work on climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction. He serves as technical and policy focal point and represents IUCN at international policy fora including the UNFCCC, CBD, and UNDRR on climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
