Prof. Leroy LITTLE BEAR

Special Advisor to the President, University of Lethbridge, Kainai First Nation

Leroy Little Bear is a member of the Small Robes clan of Kainai, Blackfoot Confederacy; born and raised on Kainai First Nation territory, graduated from an Indigenous residential school; graduated from the University of Lethbridge (B. A.); graduated from University of Utah College of Law (JD). Little Bear was a professor at the University of Lethbridge from 1975 to 1996 and taught at Harvard University from 1998 to 1999. Little Bear acted in a consulting capacity to many Canadian Indian Tribes and Indigenous organizations including the Assembly of First Nations. Little Has served on many commissions and boards; authored articles and books especially related to comparisons of western and Indigenous science. Little bear is a recipient of many awards including honorary degrees from University of Lethbridge and University of Northern British Columbia, Alberta Order of Excellence, and the Order of Canada.
