Soil and Land Health Research Lead, World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF)
Dr Leigh Winowiecki is the Soil and Land Health Research Leader at World Agroforestry (ICRAF). A soil systems scientist, her research focuses on farmer-centered landscape restoration, regenerative agricultural practices to build soil health and soil carbon dynamics. She is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Since 2009 she has co-developed and implemented ICRAF’s Land Degradation Surveillance Framework (LDSF) in over 40 countries, which is a systematic methodology to assess soil and land health and track restoration efforts across landscapes. Within the UN Food Systems Summit, she supports the Global Soil Hub which aims to catalyze investments in soil health for human well-being and climate.
