Ms Kristina GJERDE
Senior High Seas Advisor, IUCN Global Marine and Polar Programme
Kristina M. Gjerde is Senior High Seas Advisor to IUCN’s Global Marine and Polar Programme and adjunct professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California, where she teaches international marine law. Kristina holds a Juris Doctor from New York University and is a well-known expert in ocean governance with a long-standing interest in the high seas and deep ocean beyond national jurisdiction. She co-founded and helps to lead the Deep Ocean Stewardship Initiative, the High Seas Alliance, the Global Ocean Biodiversity Initiative and the Sargasso Sea Project.
