Dr Jonathan LILJEBLAD

Senior Lecturer, Australian National University

Jonathan Liljeblad holds a PhD & JD from the University of Southern California, along with a BS from the California Institute of Technology. He was born in Myanmar, and is a member of the Pa'Oh indigenous peoples of Shan State. He grew up in the Sweden & the United States, and currently is Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University. His research focuses on rule of law issues in developing countries, with case studies involving indigenous rights, human rights, cultural heritage, & environment. His field work is primarily in Southeast Asia, where he serves as a consultant for NGOs including International Commission of Jurists, Danish Institute of Human Rights, & Asia Development Bank. He is a member of the IUCN CEESP, WCEL, & WCPA, and is also a member of ICOMOS.
