Ms Fiona WILTON

Sacred Lands and Waters, The Gaia Foundation

Fiona grew up on the coast of Cornwall, in the UK, with a passion for the sea and big storms.  Since the 90s she has lived in South America (Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay) working with a myriad of initiatives to protect and restore the Earth's vitality and diversity. Her primary focus, with The Gaia Foundation and with indigenous and global partners from the Amazon to Africa, is on community-led programmes and policy around biocultural diversity, traditional knowledge, sacred lands and waters.  In Uruguay she forms part of an initiative for health oceans, with Org. para la Conservación de Cetáceos and Un Solo Mar. She contributes to expert groups (IUCN CSVPA, UN Harmony with Nature), supports an African Earth Jurisprudence Collective, and has an MSc in Protected Landscape Management. She is a mother, sailor, and shares her home in Playa Verde with energetic dogs and wildlife.
