Alix CLEVELAND
Assistant Director Vegetation Ecology, US Department of Agriculture - Forest Service
Alix has worked as an Ecologist for the US Forest Service for over 25 years at all levels of the agency; currently she works out of Forest Service headquarters in Washington, D.C. as Assistant Director of the Vegetation Ecology Programs. Initiatives that Alix and her staff are currently working on include, implementing the application of the National Hierarchy of Ecological Units, development and application of a National Reforestation Strategy, identifying carbon sequestration opportunities in forested and non-forested ecosystems, advancing crop wild relative conservation, management and protection of at-risk plant species, updating assisted migration policies, and development of a national invasive species management handbook. Alix graduated from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University with a B.S. in Environmental Science and an M. S. in Environmental and Forest Biology.
