Nature-based Solutions to prevent natural hazards in France

Why attend
France is subject to several natural hazards on its territory, and these are exacerbated by climate change. This workshop proposes to illustrate with concrete examples how Nature-based Solutions can improve the resilience of territories to these natural hazards while providing benefits for biodiversity.
HideDescription
For several years, the IUCN French Committee has been supporting and promoting Nature-based Solutions initiatives to prevent natural hazards in France. In many contexts, healthy ecosystems can reduce exposure to natural hazards and the impacts of extreme events. For example, wetlands regulate flooding and protect water resources during droughts. Mangroves and dunes serve as natural barriers against wind and coastal erosion. Composed of short interventions by specialists and field actors, this workshop aims at illustrating how Nature-based Solutions can provide concrete and operational answers to the actors of the territory to prevent natural hazards. It will also identify the levers and obstacles to the deployment of NBS.
