HideDescription
What makes the Central-African rainforest special? What is the key to Gabon’s success in fighting deforestation and wild life trafficking, protecting the important forest elephants? And what lessons can be learnt across continents when it comes to investing in nature? These are questions to be touched upon when the Scientific Advisor of Gabon’s National Agency for National Parks, Dr Flore Koumba Pambo meets CEO and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility, Carlos Manuel Rodriguez and Director of the Norwegian Development Agency, Bård Vegar Solhjell. The panel will discuss strategies, actions and challenges in protecting the Congo Basin, the world’s second biggest rainforest – drawing upon Gabon’s unique track record in nature conservation, Carlos Manuel Rodriguez’ exceptional global experience with nature-based solutions, and the particular Norwegian donor experience in reducing tropical deforestation.
