Scaling up implementation of Nature-based Solutions for water

As the IUCN launches a global Nature-based Solution standard, this session will draw attention to concrete examples in Burkina Faso, Madagascar, the Congo River Basin, China, Mexico and Europe where Nature-based Solutions are either based on water ecosystems and/or address water-related challenges such as global demand for water, food security, intensification of the global water cycle, water-related hazards whilst providing notable co-benefits for freshwater biodiversity. The session will invite audience members to analyze the presented examples in order to assess where and how there is still progress to be made and what aspects were missing in each of the case studies.
