Guillaume Chiron joined Agence Française de Développement (AFD) in 1993 as an Economist. He has held several operational positions in Mauritania, Haïti, Mozambique and Brazil. As a biodiversity project manager he managed during seven years a portfolio of projects for biodiversity protection and natural resources management in Africa (Madagascar, Mozambique, Mauritania, Democratic Republic of Congo), Asia (China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar) and the South Pacific.
Since 2017, Guillaume Chiron is Deputy Head of AFD's Agriculture, Rural Development and Biodiversity Division, where he is more specifically in charge of Biodiversity, Ocean and Forestry issues. He is also administrator of the Banc d'Arguin and Mauritania's coastal and marine biodiversity trust funds and the Yves Rocher Foundation.
