Mr Ruben KHACHATRYAN

Founding Director, Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets

Ruben Khachatryan studied  Global Environmental Management and Policy in Georgia, Germany and Switzerland. He studied  also Fine Arts and Film Directing, In 2002 he established the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC). He directed many Conservation and environmental education projects, such as the SunChild International Environmental Festival,  One of his most important inputs in Conservation effort is the establishments of the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR) on Y2010, as a Privately Protected Area with a surface of 30,000 hectares connecting crucial important migratory corridor for endangered species. From 2011 to 2020 he was the director of Yerevan Zoo. During his service years there, the Yerevan Zoo was transformed to match the EAZA Standards.

Ruben was granted  the Golden Medal of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection on .On Y2018 he was awarded with “Frankfurt Conservation Prize”.
