Jennifer KELLEHER
Programme Lead, Governance, Equity and Rights, IUCN
I lead the programme on Governance, Equity and Rights in the Global Protected and Conserved Areas programme. In my work, I am interested in using the lens of governance to address issues around equity and rights in protected and conserved areas. This ranges from promoting good governance in protected areas to the recognition of indigenous peoples’ governance systems, customary laws and rights, and ICCAs, an abbreviation for the territories and areas conserved by indigenous peoples and local communities or “territories of life”. I work to support the IUCN Green List Standard and the concept of ‘other effective conservation measures’, exciting new prospects for recognising diverse and effective conservation practices across the world. I am passionate about bringing together different knowledge systems for transformative change and co-learning to take action in social justice issues in nature conservation.
