Restoration of the Pärnu river basin in Estonia

Why attend
To learn how Estonia has restored a major river basin to allow fish migration.
HideDescription
This event will present the project to restore the Pärnu river basin, one of the largest river basins in Estonia. Before the project more than 90 % of migration routes and potential habitats for fish of Pärnu river system were blocked by dams. The largest was Sindi dam, originally built already in 1834, so migration routes were cut off for almost two centuries. The project removed seven dams and restored fish migration through the full length of the river.
