Prof. Philippe LE BILLON

Professor, University of British Columbia

Philippe Le Billon works on environment, development and security. He has an MSc, MBA (Panthéon-Sorbonne), and PhD (Oxford). Prior to joining the University of British Columbia (UBC), he was a Research Associate with the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), and worked with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, EU humanitarian programs, and environmental organizations. He has published widely on environmental conflicts, environmental peacebuilding, environmental and land defenders, ocean sustainability, as well as conservation in conflict-affected countries.
