Multi-stakeholder coalitions: why and how they can make a difference for the Post2020 Action Agenda

Why attend
Beyond biodiversity forums, a number of non-State initiatives aimed at food security, climate change and other Sustainable Development Goals, also influence life on land and below water. Why and how could such coalitions and partnerships become key partners to mainstream biodiversity across society and take concrete action for nature?
HideDescription
Public and private actors increasingly engage in multi-stakeholder partnerships and coalitions. Their collaborative arrangements bear different visions of sustainability, multi-stakeholder dialogue and engagement towards nature. Yet each one of them holds key part of the solution to tackling the underlying drivers of nature degradation and supporting conservation efforts by 2030. How do such partnerships and coalitions advance the whole-of-society vision of the Post2020 framework? Why and how can they make a difference to support conservation efforts and commit to the maintenance of the healthy nature we need to thrive? The session takes stock of the current mobilization movement with the results of a recent IUCN publication funded by OFB (Office Français de la Biodiversité) and highlights the opportunities and remaining challenges for a transformative contribution to the Post2020 Action Agenda.
