COMDEKS/Satoyama Initiative – An inclusive landscape and seascape approach for community-led conservation

UNDP, in partnership with the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD), will organize a side event to share experiences and best practices from the Community Development and Knowledge Management for the Satoyama Initiative (COMDEKS) Programme, the flagship programme of the Satoyama Initative. Speakers from UNDP, GEF SGP, MOEJ, UNU-IAS, and the CBD Secretariat will discuss issues, best practices and lessons learned to enhance resilience of Socio-ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes (SEPLS) by promoting sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity conservation.
