LIVE-STREAMS IN FR AND EN LANGUAGES (FROM 4/09 TO 9/09)
A convivial meeting space, designed to complement the Nature Generations Areas, the French Pavilion will include exhibition spaces and will be aimed at the general public, businesses, NGOs, as well as congress participants. After 5:30pm, all events at the Pavilion will be for congress participants only.
Located at the entrance of the Exhibition Hall, the French Pavilion will showcase, through its location and its size (245 m2), France‘s specific contribution, being the host-country, and the extent of its international commitment to the protection of biodiversity. In its immediate vicinity, although in separate pavilions, the French Agency for Biodiversity and the French Committee of IUCN will be present.
The French Pavilion will also be a vehicle for media coverage of the Congress and will greatly contribute to its outreach, both nationally and internationally.
It will be the venue for official and special events such as thematic sessions, the presentation of public policies, award ceremonies, signing of French commitments, and other celebrations.
Its programme comprised of several dozen events will showcase businesses and NGOs committed to nature, involve civil society, and help to forge international ties. France's strategic priorities for biodiversity will be presented and discussed during thematic sessions on the national strategy to combat imported deforestation, agroecology, the fight against environmental crime, the financing of biodiversity protection, or the links between biodiversity and climate. Being the second largest maritime area in the world and a haven for 10% of the world's biodiversity, the overseas territories will receive special attention.
Most events will include an international dimension.
